exist only in fiction, these are exactly the type of things that Nicki would have on display.
All of these pieces, and many more, were found at a wonderful site called AmazingAdornments.com. It's a great place to browse, drool, and learn about of vintage jewelry. (Nicki hangs out there all the time.) :-)
So step up to the jewelry counter, and watch the fingerprints, would you?
Confetti Lucite Squares Demi Parure by Coro, a very collectible designer. A "parure" is a matched set of jewelry which in this instance, is a necklace and earring set from the late 1950s. Isn't it pretty? |
Want something simpler? How about this Red Rhinestone Drop Choker by Adolph Katz? This piece is from 1951 and is also made by Coro (Mr. Katz was the designer.) |
Is your style more classic? This luscious Juliana necklace in smoky black and white crystal set in silvertone metal reminds Nicki of Audrey Hepburn. A real beauty. |
Check out this gorgeous Victorian Cameo Dangle Pin by Florenza Made of carved shell, with faux seed pearls and turqoise stones in an ornate Victorian setting |
How about these Delizza and Elster rhinestone earrings? (Talk about bling!) A well-known style made in a variety of colors, in this case root beer and green |
There's something sweetly simple about this Enameled Carnation Brooch that Nicki just loves. From the 1950s, its white petals are tipped with black with deep green leaves |
While Nicki is usually found in cute tops and form-fitting jeans, she doesn't mind getting
all dressed up when the occasion calls for it, particularly in these vintage glamour gowns!
She found these at a great site called http://www.midnightglamour.com
("Look like a million bucks, feel like a million bucks!")
Any woman would be the center of attention in this gorgeous sequined and rhinestoned red chiffon with twisted silver braid on the bodice. They don't make 'em like this anymore! |
Is this adorable, or what? Vintage bubble balloon dress in frothy tulle, flocked with velvet polka dots. The sweetheart bodice is ruched and draped, and the skirt has a small crinoline. |
This one is Nicki's favorite! A sexy black halter gown with fabulous sparkling rhinestone chains which clasp directly to the bodice and link to a velvet collar. Whew! |
Did you know that your purse says a lot about who you are? Are you the practical
type who carries a roomy leather satchel, or do you prefer fun, flirty and impractical?
Nicki likes both, switching out her purses the way most people change shoes! She found some
great bags online at http://www.vintage-instyle.com and bets that you will, too!
A absolutely charming black "peau de soie" evening purse by Ingber. The cut-out window on the clasp holds an adorable cherub with a pink marble sphere. ("Peau de soie" means "skin of silk") |
An amazing silk purse with an ERTE style flapper from the 1920's. Silk and satin with a black fringe, and a wristlet length silver chain handle. |
Red patent leather for a red-hot mama! Unique handles, brass clasp, lined with grosgrain. Be sure to wear matching lipstick! |
And now it's time to take off the glamour and get comfy! There's a huge variety of
sites on the web where you can browse and buy quality vintage clothing, but Nicki particularly
likes Beyond Retro. There's also a great primer about vintage clothing in general at vintageclothing.about.com.
Here are a few things Nicki would wear, AND stock in her store.
Peace, love and rock n' roll, baby!
A rock n' roll classic! Concert tee for Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck and Santana, live at the Gorge, early 90s. (Nicki would've loved to be there!) |
This flirty little schoolgirl skirt from the 1960's is still modern today! Paired with black tights, combat boots and a cute t-shirt, it's one of Nicki's favorite looks! |
Levi striped awning flares. Can't you just see Austin Powers wearing these back in the day? (Oh, baby, behave!) How mod can you get? |
